Beware Distraction Burglaries: PCSO Lee Hurley of Huntingdonshire Burglary Team writes: Please be advised that we have received a further report of a distraction burglary, this time at MANDENE GARDENS, GREAT GRANSDEN.

In this latest offence, the third of this type since the beginning of April, offenders have knocked on the door of an elderly resident, claiming to work for the water board before gaining access to the property and stealing cash.

This incident happened yesterday at approximately 2:30pm.

If you're not sure who is at your door, don't open it. Check the identity of the caller by calling the company they are claiming to be from i.e. gas, electricity, water and police. Use the telephone numbers listed in your local directory or provided independently by your service provider - Do not use any telephone numbers provided by the caller - they may be bogus. The 'Waterboard' no longer exists, it is an obsolete phrase used only by bogus callers.

Anyone with any information about this offence, or any other suspicious activity, is asked to call Huntingdonshire burglary team on 101, quoting CF0160020416
