Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking the views of household recycling centre (HRC) users and potential users of the service within Cambridgeshire, to help determine the future of the household waste recycling service. It is possible that Waste Recycling Centres might be closed, or their hours restricted.

Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking the views of household recycling centre (HRC) users and potential users of the service within Cambridgeshire, to help determine the future of the household waste recycling service.

We would like to know your thoughts on how to provide the service in the future and views on the proposed savings options to help contribute to the £149 million savings the County Council has to find over the next five years.

The engagement exercise has two main purposes; - to look at how the service is used at the moment by residents and to gauge public opinion on the savings options being considered by the Council. The options being put forward include looking at the location, useage and potential closure of some HRCs in the county, as well as proposals such as charging for certain wastes such as hardcore and plasterboard, or reducing weekday opening hours and opening days at sites.

The results of this consultation will be used to guide our decisions on the future household recycling service.

How to make your views known

The Household Recycling Service Review consultation is being undertaken with the public in 2 ways; through an open website which anyone can use and also via HRC surveys with the aim of gathering a sample response that accurately reflects the users of the service within Cambridgeshire.

The online survey can be accessed here.

Alternatively you can download the Consultation Document, FAQs and printable version of the questionnaire here.

The survey closes on 26th September.
