FRIENDS IN DEED
The Friends in Deed Bottle Stall at the Village Fair raised the grand sum of £154, split between the Church
and the Village Hall Trust. Very many thanks to everyone who so generously donated bottles and to all of
you who bought tickets! The stall was empty by 3pm! Particular thanks to our Friends in Deed members -
Angie, Christine and Keith, and also to Diane, Bridget and Theresa who provided much appreciated assis-
tance on the day.
The June Drop-in Café proved to be one of our busiest yet! Lots of you came along to enjoy the cakes and have a good chat.
Please note that there will not be a Drop-in in August as we hold the Summer Tea Party in lieu. Furthermore, St Mary’s is run-
ning a 3 day Holiday Club 7-9 August so the next Drop-in will be on 13 September.
The
Summer Tea Party
, will be held on
Wednesday 2nd August
in the Falla’s garden and we look forward to welcoming you.
Invites have gone out but if you haven’t received one and would like to join us please call Brenda Steadman on 810382. If you
require transport then just call us on the Transport Coordinator’s phone listed below.
We held a successful annual training day on 12 June when Susan Bate from Care Network gave us a talk on Basic Best Practices
of Home Visiting which was both interesting and thought provoking.

BUCKDEN WI
Our July meeting was party night, members brought along food for our buffet and we all enjoyed choosing a
plate of food and socialising with each other. It was a relaxing evening before our Summer break. A picture
quiz of famous faces made us all think recognising the face but recalling the name was more of a challenge.
Nevertheless, it caused conversation and laughter especially spelling the more unusual names.
Our next Meeting Tuesday 5
th
September 7:30pm at Buckden School hall will be a talk titled “Why Exercise Matters”.
This will be an interesting evening as we all want to live longer and exercise plays a part in this. Everyone is welcome.
The competition is your favourite trainers.

BUCKDEN VILLAGE FESTIVAL—THANKS!
A huge THANK YOU to all those who helped and came to support the Buckden Village Festival.
Special thanks to those who bravely modelled clothes at the Fashion Show and to Bon Marche Huntingdon and Shades of White
Bridal wear for providing the clothes and helping us.
Also thank you to those who served tea, ran the raffle, the door and to the caretaker for laying out the Village Hall for us so
grandly. With lighting by young Alex it was just the ticket for a splendid evening. We sent £134 to the Village Hall Trust and the
same to St. Mary's 800 and counting appeal. We hope to have another Fashion Show in St. Mary’s in the winter. Watch out for
the date in the Roundabout.
Well done to the children of Buckden Pre-school Play Group and Buckden School for making the lovely bunting. The winning
pieces were from Freya, Samuel Grigg, Lucy Mayes and Charlie Irons. They each received a large bag of art materials. I hope the
adults appreciated all the work that had gone into making the bunting around the arena. Thank you to the Breakfast Club at
Waterside Buckden Marina with cutting out the Bunting and Judging.
Next year’s Fete will be on July 7th....don't miss out keep the date safe.
