Defibrillators

More and more venues and places are installing cardiac defibrillators that are easy to use in an emer-

gency, and these have saved many lives. At our recent meeting, Buckden Parish Council approved the

purchase of one for the village. This is in addition to one that is planned to be purchased by Buckden

Surgery via a legacy. The two defibrillators will be the same make and model and will be managed in a

similar way. Details are still to be worked out, but it is likely that one will be located near the Village Hall

and the other in the vicinity of the High Street.

School Crossing Patrol

As you’ll know, we used to have a school crossing patrol (a lollipop person) in the morning and after-

noon on Mill Road near the school. Since the previous person retired after many years of service, Cam-

bridgeshire County Council, who is responsible for employing the School Crossing Patrol Officer, has

been unable to find a replacement. However, the position remains open, and would be filled if a suitable

person were to come forward.

Do look out for an advert in future issues of the Roundabout and on social media. In the meantime, if

you are interested in exploring the possibility of doing the job, contact the Buckden Parish Council clerk

at the address below, who will be able to put you in touch with the right person in Cambridgeshire Coun-

ty Council.

Hinchingbrooke Hospital

The plans for a proposed merger of Hinchingbrooke and Peterborough Hospital trusts are proceeding.

The proposed merger is predicted to save Hinchingbrooke £19m per year by sharing administrative ser-

vices and by reducing the need to employ agency medical staff. As we understand it, no medical ser-

vices will be lost from Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

Concessionary Bus Passes

Cambridgeshire County Council is expecting a large number of people to need to update their conces-

sionary bus pass over the next 18 months. If you have a concessionary bus pass, please check the ex-

piry date and apply to renew it in good time – you wouldn’t want to board a bus and find that it had ex-

pired.

You can renew up to six weeks before the expiry date, which you can do on-line at

www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/concessionary

or by calling the number on the back of your pass.
