Front Cover

The cover picture this month is a watercolour provided by

Tony Rigby. As ever, we are very grateful.

We are looking for more paintings of any kind that could use

as a front cover. We can photograph them if you only have

original artwork. We are also keen to get images (photos or

paintings) of the village and surrounding areas in preparation

for future issues. We are always looking for photos, images,

drawings and paintings so please keep sending them in.

Please note that images should ideally be in portrait format

and should be a

minimum

of 2400 x 1700 pixels. More is

better!

April 2019

We continue this month with our regular quarterly series of

wildlife articles by Mark Ward. In his article, Mark issues a

challenge to see how many species of insect we can spot and

identify in our gardens over the coming months. I am certain-

ly going to have a go. I also have a record of every species of

bird we have ever seen in our garden since we moved in, and

the list is surprisingly long. Perhaps you’d like to do the same.

I’m sure you’ll be surprised. You can find Mark’s article on

page 10.

The Annual Parish Assembly takes place on April 23rd at 7pm

in the Village Hall. This is a meeting where all the various or-

ganisations in the village report on the last year and look for-

ward to the next year. These organisations include the Parish

Council itself, the Almshouse Charity, Neighbourhood Watch,

the Village Hall Trust and so on. But above all there will be a

report from the team preparing the Neighbourhood Plan

which will influence and inform the development of Buckden

for years to come. Those who attend will be able to raise

questions and make comments on the various reports. Do

attend if you can.

We have had a wonderful response to our plea for distribu-

tors for the Roundabout. Thanks to all who responded, the

distribution team is now fully staffed and we have a few peo-

ple on the waiting list who are acting as reserve distributors

while waiting for a permanent round of their own. So for the

team being, we don’t need any more volunteers, but I’ll be

sure to let you know when that changes, as it surely will!

Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. There are

often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition,

as well as information that arrives during the month:
