Buckden Parish Council News...

Parish Council Photo Competition

The Parish Council Photo Competition will again take

place this summer with all entries being displayed dur-

ing the summer festival weekend. We hope that this

year’s categories will attract photographers of all ability

levels. There will be three age categories: up to age 10,

age 11-17 and over 18 years. There will also be three

categories of photos:

1.

Architecture in Buckden, Stirtloe and Diddington.

2.

People in Buckden, Stirtloe and Diddington.

3.

Nature of Buckden, Stirtloe and Diddington.

Entries should be a maximum size of A3, including any

mounts. Entries should be handed into the Parish Clerk

by 15

th

June. So all photographers get out your cameras

or search through your albums or computers for suitable

photos. There will be a small financial prize for the win-

ner in each category and age group.

Cemetery and Church Path

Visitors to the cemetery will have seen how attractive

the area for cremated remains now looks. Our thanks to

Martin Craddock, our handyman, for both his ideas and

hard work in ensuring that all the work was completed.

Churchgoers will also have admired the improvements

made to the church paths, work which was organised

and paid for by your Parish Council. The resurfaced

paths allow for much easier access to the Church partic-

ularly for those using mobility scooters.

Road Safety

School Zebra Crossing

The crossing has been complet-

ed thanks to Parish Council funding and a CCC Local

Highways Improvement (LHI) grant.

Perry Road

Confirmation has been received that the

CCC LHI grant has been approved and this together with

Parish Council funds should mean that the proposed

traffic control improvements will be completed some-

time over the next eighteen months.

Rights of Way

The Council is planning to officially open

the new Buckden Circular Walk on 9

th

June (more details

nearer the date). The Council has received approval for

its bid to the A14 Legacy Fund for the possibility of new

ROW including a cycle/footpath to Grafham Water.
