Christmas Hampers for Godmanchester Foodbank

I am collecting for the Godmanchester Foodbank Christmas

Hampers again this year, as it has been such a success for the

last couple of years.

Most of us look forward to Christmas but for some it can be a

very difficult time. I thought that our village could again show

support to some of those people in our own local community

who may be struggling.

Godmanchester Foodbank operate all through out the year

supporting people in Huntingdon that are referred to them,

with food and other assistance.

Christmas can be a particularly demanding time, which is

where we come in! I am asking that you fill a small box or

large bag with some non perishable foods, such as tins, pack-

ets, rice, pasta, etc. and also some nice Christmas treats such

as chocolate, biscuits, sweets, cake, etc. Your donated items

will help towards making up Christmas Hampers for people

who just can’t afford those luxuries and will help make a

difference for them at this time of year. The Foodbank said the

children loved the sweets and chocolate they got last year.

I will need your donations by the

11th December

, at the lat-

est, so that I can then get them to Godmanchester Foodbank

for them to make up the hampers and distribute them in time

for Christmas.

Please contact me if you require further details.

Feed the birds

In winter, life can be hard for

wildlife. Days are short and for

many creatures, especially

small birds, finding enough

food to survive takes up al-

most every hour of daylight.

You can help the birds and other wildlife by making your own

bird feeder, or buying one, and filling it regularly.

Feeding garden birds in winter can make a real difference to

their survival. In the coldest weather fat balls are a great

source of food and providing foods such as sunflower seeds

will ensure your garden is popular with birds.
