Buckden Roundabout
June 2019
Pre-school
The children started the new term by sharing the progress of
their beans and happily, most of them were thriving. Activi-
ties like this not only help to teach the children about how
plants grow and what they need to survive, but it also helps
their comparative language and maths skills as they measure
their bean stalks and discuss their growth.
Those children starting primary school in September have
started PE sessions to get them used to more formal physi-
cal games and changing independently (a very important
skill for school!). Together with the older non-leavers,
they’ve also been enjoying show dance sessions with Miss
Gemma, learning to following instructions while having fun
and getting exercise.
Well done to everyone who found our special Easter Rocks.
Our winners were Laura Freeman, Mae & Jack Burns, Ellie &
Frey Grant, Clare Ross, Riley Webb and George & Emma Jol-
ley. Congratulations! Future fundraisers will include a stall at
the village festival and Super Cinema Sundays. Watch this
space!
At the end of the Spring term, we said a sad goodbye to Miss
Cori. She will be missed and we wish her all the best for the
future.
Finally…
•
Our need for more committee members is becoming
urgent, with some members leaving soon as their chil-
dren move on to primary school. As a charity-run Pre-
school, we are required to have a committee of a cer-
tain size to continue operating; if we fail to gain more
members, we will be forced to close. After 50 years as
part of the community, this would be very sad, so
please consider joining—even if you can only spare a
few hours a term.

Our Big Play Party to celebrate 50 years of Preschool
will be happening on Sunday 28
th
July on the village
field. Save the Date!
