Village Notices

FRIENDS IN DEED

The

Friends in Deed AGM

will be held in Buckden Village Hall

on

Wednesday 23

rd

October at 7pm

. The guest speaker is

Mark Ryan, from Peacocks, and his talk will be about

‘Preparing for Death’. Rev Jes Salt will also speak. To give us

an estimate of numbers, please let us know if you are joining

us by contacting Angie Bruce at

angie@aggies.com

or call/

leave a message on 810056.

We look forward to welcoming you on the night.

The next

Community Café

will be on

Wednesday 9

th

October

in the Living Stones Room at St Mary’s, 2.30 to 4pm.

It is

open to all and we look forward to meeting you there. If you

require transport, then just call us on the Transport Coordina-

tor’s phone listed below but do give us a couple of days’ no-

tice.

At the end of October our Transport Coordinator is retiring

and to keep this valuable service running

we

urgently need a new Transport Coordi-

nator

. We have a great team of volunteer

drivers who take people around the local

area for a variety of medical and dental

appointments, and some social events,

when family or friends aren’t available and public transport is

not an option. The Transport Coordinator’s role is to allocate

drivers to requests, using dedicated mobile and email-based

procedures. This is not an onerous task, we average around

three journeys per week, and deputies are available to cover

for the Coordinator when they are away.

NB Buckden Surgery has its own separate scheme for surgery

appointments.

For help or information contact:

Coordinator: Jane Scott 07810 006598

Requests for transport: Andy Scott 07914 669967.

Please leave a message and include your contact details.

Six Legs Good – More Legs Better!

The Huntingdonshire Local Group of the Wildlife Trust invites

you to a fascinating talk on the many species in our animal

kingdom that have six or more legs. This will be held on

Wednesday 9

th

October 2019 at 7.30pm

and as usual will be

at Brampton Memorial Hall, Thrapston Road, Brampton, Hun-

tingdon, PE28 4TB.

This illustrated talk will be given by Brian Eversham, who is

the Chief Executive of the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire,

Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire. Brian has held this

position since 2009 and prior to this was Conservation Direc-

tor of the Trust during which time he was involved with the

launch of the Living Landscapes projects at The Great Fen and

Nene Valley. Brian’s interests and knowledge are extensive,

including birds, botany, lichens, insects and molluscs and to-

night he will focus on the perhaps less popular species that

broadly fit this descriptive title.

I am sure that Brian will give us an entertaining and educa-

tional evening and anyone who is interested is very welcome

to attend. Booking not necessary.
