Thought for the Month
Dear All
Well what a summer we have had so far, we have actually had an unusual year! The summer reminds me of 1976
which was so similar. As I sit to write this the weather has changed and storms have been the order of the day.
Thankfully my son finished harvest the day before the rains came. All we have out in the fields are some big bales of
straw and those do not suffer too much in the rain. In 1976 we actually finished harvest even earlier in July and
would have had time to get another harvest in before it rained. Friends of ours took a Church youth group away for
the weekend on that August bank holiday. They reminded the youngsters to take wellies and macs but as it had not
rained for so long most didn’t! That is when the rains came and they were unprepared!
This reminds me of the bible story about the young women who were unprepared when the wedding party arrived.
I know it is easy for any one of us to point the finger at others who are not prepared. I will confess that at times that
has been my lot; things creep up and I am not ready! How is it with you - are you ready for the future? Are you
ready for every eventuality? Time waits they say for nobody and that can be the fatal flaw in our lives. So, if you
want to be ready for the future please come and find out about the way that Jesus Christ can help in giving assur-
ance for that time!
Soon we will be in the time for Harvest Thanksgiving, do attend one and thank God for all his bounty!
Best Wishes
Tony Whitlock; Perry Baptist
