Friday 3 August 2018

Bridge the Gap Charity walk

Bridge the Gap

is once again expected to be a fantastic family

day out or an opportunity for friends or work colleagues to

get an insight of our impressive city.

This popular annual walk will take you to visit some of the

stunning Cambridge Colleges and their gardens, which aren’t

normally open to the general public. 2018 is set to be another

super year featuring

Christ’s College, Sidney Sussex College,

St Catharine’s College, Trinity College and Pembroke Col-

lege

with walkers also looking forward to being captivated by

the fabulous exhibits at the newly opened

Museum

of Zoology

which will also serve as a checkpoint on route.

This year the walk takes place on

Sunday 9 September

and

will start and finish from Parker’s Piece, with the Society of

Cambridge Tourist Guides on hand throughout to offer inter-

esting historical tales and provide an array of information

about their stunning grounds and features, plus you’ll be able

to hear music from the hugely talented Waterbeach Brass

Band as you wander around.

At the end of the walk a lively atmosphere in the tea tent will

welcome you back, so all you need to do is sit back and enjoy

a slice of cake.

This year is cause for extra celebration for headline sponsor

Cambridge Building Society, as they celebrate a decade of

helping to fund and organise the event. Peter Burrows, Fi-

nance Director for The Cambridge explains why they are so

passionate about being involved: “

Bridge the Gap

provides

the perfect opportunity to get involved with your local com-

munity - it’s an event for the local community, organised by

the local community to benefit the local community.

“The great thing about it, is that it’s open to everyone. Not

only does it give an opportunity to explore the Colleges that

those who live here might take for granted but it raises much

needed funds for two local charities whose valuable work re-

ally does make a difference to people’s lives.”

The Bridge the Gap

team additionally

consists of Arthur

Rank Hospice Char-

ity - a long standing

beneficiary - and

Romsey Mill who

came on board in

2016, as well as

TTP, Cambridge

Assessment and

the Rotary Club of Cambridge who continue to sponsor the

walk ensuring that 100% of the entry fee directly benefits the

Charities.

You will be in the company of more than 2000 people on this

special day out, so please come along and help our communi-

ty partners Arthur Rank Hospice Charity and Romsey Mill

reach their fundraising goal of £50,000.

If you'd like to get involved visit
