The autumn term is always hectic, with harvest festi-

vals, bonfire night craft, Halloween activities and of

course our very popular Halloween disco – where we

get to catch up with many of our ex-preschoolers and

discover how amazingly tall they have grown! This

year's Halloween disco was another great success.

The children and their families had great fun and we

raised a fantastic £198. Thank you to everyone who

came, and an especially big thank you to Pat King,

who so kindly provided our music and led the audi-

ence participation!

Of course, our thoughts have now turned for Christ-

mas, and as usual we will have our tombola stall at

the Christmas Lights event – please do come and try

your luck. Although we are not holding our own

Christmas event this year, we do have a Christmas

Raffle taking place on the 16

th

December with, as

usual, some fabulous prizes from local businesses.

Tickets are available from preschool.

Meanwhile Emmy, our committee member in charge

of our non-compulsory uniform, has organised some

samples of our new preschool sweatshirts. They are

the same great quality as our t-shirts and embroi-

dered with the Preschool logo. The sweatshirts will

soon be available to keep your little ones toasty dur-

ing the winter!

Many sessions are now full and just a few have very

limited spaces, so to arrange a visit or book a place

for your child, please contact our Manager, Michelle

Nelson, on 07941 671999. You can also contact our

Chairman, Alan Scott, on 07745274921. For more

VILLAGE NEWS

BUCKDEN CHURCH OF

ENGLAND SCHOOL

(Primary Academy Trust)

November 2016

Following the half term break we returned to school

ready for the busy pre-Christmas term.

This half term started when our Year 3 children had a

Stone Age Day. Their day began with a presentation

about the Stone Age using a timeline. They also learnt

about clothing, tools and hunting, what life was like at

home and compared life today with prehistoric life. They

designed and built a prehistoric home. A great day was

had by all the children and staff.

We had an unexpected visitor when Pudsey Bear came

into school. There were many surprised faces as he

joined the children in assembly. We followed this with

our Children in Need fundraising day. Everyone came

to school dressed in spots in exchange for a donation

towards the Children in Need appeal.

A reminder - the application process for admission to

primary school in September 2017 has now opened. If

your child was born between 1

st

September 2012 and

31

st

August 2013 you will need to apply for their primary

school place. This can be done either on line at admis-

sions@cambridge.gov.uk, or by submitting a Primary

School Application Form. These forms are available

from Buckden School office.

We are now looking forward to our Christmas pro-

gramme of nativity plays, Christmas performances, Car-

ol Concerts to which our parents are invited. More news

about these events next month!!

We have published our new term dates up to July 2018.
