Front Cover
The front cover this month is a reproduction of a
painting of bluebells in Brampton Wood. It was painted
and sent to us by Ruth Nicholas. As ever, we are very
grateful to one of our readers for a great cover!
We are always looking for photos, images, drawings and
paintings to use on the front cover so please keep send-
ing them in. Please note that photos should ideally be in
portrait format and should be a
minimum
of 2400 x
1700 pixels. More is better!

March 2018
The theme this month is the end of winter and the beginning of spring. I have to say that it’s been a bit of a stop-and
-start affair this year, with the earliest signs of spring rather rudely interrupted by the “Beast from the East” bringing
Arctic conditions across the country. And today, although the sun is shining on a mild spring day, snow and bitter
easterlies are forecast for the weekend. I hope that by the time you read this, spring will be here to stay.
I am delighted to say that this month we start a regular quarterly column on wildlife, written by Buckden resident
and naturalist, Mark Ward. You can find Mark’s piece, Buckden in Spring on page 14.
Thank you to readers for the wonderful response we had to the appeal for volunteers to provide back-up to our dis-
tribution team. We now have sufficient reserve distributors. Over time some distributors are bound to retire or
move on, so it’s inevitable that in the future we’ll need more people to join the distribution team, and we’ll be sure
to publicise it when the moment arrives.
Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. There are often articles there that we could not fit into the print
edition, as well as information that arrives during the month:
