Buckden Parish Council News...

Calling all cyclists – we need your views

As all cyclists will know, there are cycle racks at the Village Hall, adjacent to the Nisa shop at Hunts End and adjacent

to Day’s, the butcher’s shop, in the High Street. We have recently had a request for an additional cycle rack in the

High Street and have identified the area near the Parish Council notice board/telephone box as a possible location.

Clearly, to install a cycle rack here would entail some expense and we would like to know whether cyclists would use

a cycle rack in this location. We would be grateful if you would let Georgina, Clerk to the Parish Council, know your

views, either by telephone or by e-mail. We will only go ahead with this if we get a reasonable and positive response

to the idea.

Speedwatch

Would you like to join the Speedwatch team? Speedwatch provides a valuable addition to police speed checks and

has been proven to act as a deterrent to drivers to reduce their speed to the legal limit. The next Speedwatch train-

ing will be at Cambourne Police Station on Saturday 14 April 2018, between 10 am and noon. If you would like to be

a Speedwatch volunteer, please contact Cllr Rick Screaton at

rick.screaton@gmail.com

or via the Clerk.

Vandalism in our community

Many of you will have read last month’s article by PCSO Richard Braddick, including the piece about criminal dam-

age to the play area during the installation of the new surface. We know that the overwhelming majority of our

community will be disgusted and appalled by such wanton vandalism in the village. We would appeal to all parents

to point out to their children that all damage has financial consequences, limiting funds that can be spent on other

activities, as well as social and visual results. Please also point out that there is CCTV around the Village Hall.

Cemetery regulations

As you will have learnt from last month’s Roundabout, the Parish Council has revised the cemetery regulations and

these can now be found on our website. We would urge all those owners of cemetery plots to look at these regula-

tions and ensure that the grave or cremated remains plot of your loved one is kept in line with these updated guide-

lines.

Regular attendees at the cemetery will have seen that extensive work has been carried out, both to install the path,

so that we can access the new area, and by our handymen, who have done a wonderful job of cutting back unwant-

ed vegetation and tidying, particularly the older plots. We will be looking at all the cemetery shortly to ensure that

all plots are kept in line with our updated regulations.

Any questions or comments on this report can be addressed to the Parish Clerk, Georgina West, Clerk to Buckden

Parish Council, Buckden Village Hall, Burberry Road, Buckden PE19 5UY.
