Front Cover
The front cover this month shows Buckden High Street and
was painted by a resident of Buckden. Many thanks to our
anonymous artist!
We are looking for more paintings of any kind that we could
use as a front cover. We can photograph them if you only
have original artwork. We are also keen to get images (photos
or paintings) of the village and surrounding areas in prepara-
tion for future issues. Please note that images should ideally
be in portrait format and should be a
minimum
of 2400 x
1700 pixels. More is better!

February 2020
The new decade is well underway now, the recent Christmas
celebrations fading into the memory and the reality of being
back at work or school has well and truly hit!
I don’t want to seem to be tempting fate, but apart from
some recent high winds we have been quite fortunate weath-
er wise so far this winter. I can only think of a handful of occa-
sions where I have had to scrape the car free of frost and ice
before heading off to work in the morning.
On the subject of heading off to work, I am curious to know
what the village thinks about the new A14? As a regular com-
muter to Cambridge, I find once I am on the new road it is
making my drive to and from work quicker and easier than
using the A428. And I can avoid the level crossing between
here and Offord - often a significant contributor to my journey
times!
You will have noticed I said ‘once I am on the new road’. I am
not sure I fully understand why it isn’t easier to join the A14
heading East from this part of Cambridgeshire. From Buckden
it is not too bad as I can simply head to Brampton Hut and
come back on the A1 south. The A1198 at Godmanchester has
a new junction with the A14 - but only if you want to join it
heading West!
Please remember we are always looking for article ideas for
the magazine. In 2020 we hope to increase both the variety
and number of articles, as well as running some competitions
with prizes!
Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. There are
often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition,
as well as information that arrives during the month:
