Buckden Neighbourhood Watch
JANUARY SCAMS
This time of the year on hearing the telephone ring people
always pick up expecting it is member of the family or friend
calling. You may find it is telephone message asking you to
update information. It is scam. Telephone companies or credit
card companies will not call you to update information or re-
quest bank details.
Do not update information over the phone. Ensure you have
the correct telephone number to speak with the company
that provides your service.
VOUCHER SCAM
There is email being sent out requesting you purchase iTunes
vouchers for a friend using their email address. Please check
first your friend needs the vouchers.
SUBSCRIPTION SCAM
There is a growing scam on online advert for ‘Zeto’ tablets
supposedly endorsed by Dragons Den which suggested you
could receive a free sample of tablets that would help you
lose weight.
This time of the year you may have added a few pounds and
fancy losing some extra pounds without changing anything
about lifestyle.
On contacting the advert a victim gave bank details to pay for
the postage and packaging charge for the tablets and found
subsequently several lots of £80 were requested from their
bank account. On this occasion the bank became aware and
contacted the victim and the sums were stopped.
Please beware of too good to be true offers for free weight
loss supplements, beauty creams etc.
