Front Cover
The cover photo for this edition was taken by Robert Wain
and was taken on the outskirts of the village. Many thanks to
Robert for providing such a wonderful image.
We are looking for more paintings of any kind that could use
as a front cover. We can photograph them if you only have
original artwork. We are also keen to get images (photos or
paintings) of the village and surrounding areas in preparation
for future issues. Please note that images should ideally be in
portrait format and should be a
minimum
of 2400 x 1700
pixels. More is better!

2019
A warm welcome to the June edition of Buckden Roundabout.
After a very hot Easter weekend, the weather has settled into
something we are more used to in the UK! It has started get-
ting warmer, albeit very slowly!
Every other June brings Buckden Open Gardens. This gives
you a chance to visit some of the interesting private gardens
we have here in Buckden whilst raising funds for some worthy
local causes. As well as the Open Gardens, and the now tradi-
tional Garden Party featuring a BBQ, bar and bands in Silver
Street, this year we have the added attraction of a Family Fun
Day taking place at St Mary’s - including live music in the
church and traditional stalls in the churchyard. More details
can be found on page 16
Last month we requested memories of the 75th anniversary
of the D-Day landings, and I am delighted to include an article
from Bob Cleaver about his father and that day in June 1944.
Buckden Village Hall Trust, responsible for the maintenance
and management of both the village hall and the playing fields
are seeking new volunteers to become trustees and help in
that task, or to help with fund-raising efforts for the required
works anticipated in the next 18 to 24 months. Please see the
article on page 7 for more information.
Finally, don’t forget the Parish Council’s photo competition—
for more details see the PC page. Get snapping - the entry
form can be found on page 14!
Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. There are
often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition,
as well as information that arrives during the month:
