including entrance fee. This outing is ok for disabled andelderly. Departing at 9am atMethodists, GlebeLane,
Cranfield andSouthoe. Bookingat 01480811054. Lunchhas been arranged, but will be extra.

TheFriends inDeed visitors havebeen busy. InMarchwe had a training evening providedby a
team fromEly and a representative of CambridgeshireCountyCouncil with particular responsibil-
ity for older people.Weweregiven a lightning tour of the kinds of vulnerability suffered by chil-
drenand also adults, how to recognise the signs, howwemight respondand towhomwe should
report.Wewere very pleased towelcomemembers of themanagement committee of theBuck-
denCharities and a representative of theBramptonBefrienders.
Later in themonth, wemetMrs. PamFraser of AgeUK [ AgeConcern andHelp theAged
merged to form this charity.] Mrs. Fraser works as anAdvocate, whichmeans giving a voice
toolder, individual clients in social, medical and sometimes legal situations. Her job is tomake sure anolder per-
son'swishes about their present and future lifeare clearly heardwhendecisions are being taken. She also
brought pamphlets describingother aspects of AgeUK'swork.Wemade a complete collection, which is now
housed in the parish room in theVicarage. Several of us took literature home to read and becomebetter in-
formed. AgeUK can offer somuch, from aShoppingService toadvisingonmoneymatters.Wehold all the rele-
vant phone numbers. Doplease ask if you think you could benefit from anyservice they offer.
Locally, we cannot do quite asmuchbut using individual talents and experienceFriends inDeed canoffermany
kinds of help.Wehope you are not too shy to ask.
Visiting, Driving andOpportunities for friendshipand sociability [such as the tea parties andmonthly “Drop in for a
