Spring not only brings out the flowers but sees the reappearance of small organised groups of doorstep sellers
who have usually travelled from the north midlands (hence their nickname). They usually carry bags of small
household items for sale, a well-rehearsed tale of misfortune and a false form of identity. In the past, they have
been suspected of opportunist thefts. Obviously, they should not be encouraged and, if aggressive, the police no-
tified on101.
NeighbourhoodWatch (NW) and eCops.
There are two crime alerting systems in our area either of which can be used by residents. The new national NW
alert system is used by the Huntingdonshire police to issue alerts and advice across the District. The St Neots
police provide a similar service for their area under the name of eCops and their alerts are also included in the
Huntingdonshire system. However, residents registered onlywith eCops do not have access to themore compre-
hensive NW system which includes details of the Buckden village NW scheme and its members, whether regis-
tered with NW or eCops. Those who do not wish to register with either scheme can let Richard or me have their
eMail address andwewill pass onall appropriatealerts.
