St Mary’s Charity for November and December: Population Matters: Women's Choice

Huge numbers of women world wide have no access to contraception. ALL the feedback we have shows a huge

demand for choice to control the numbers of children they have. They tell us this gives them a much greater

chance of giving their children a better life. For them fewer children is the gateway to ending poverty. Their words

not ours.

Population Matters funds projects giving women access to contraception if they wish, through supporting with

money and publicity for less well-known Non Government organisations working in this field. Population Matters

will take no percentage from donations for this. We are asking you to support Chase Africa's work in Kenya and

Uganda providing the chance for women to have birth control implants fitted. Last year 55,000 were helped and

there is huge demand for more.

This addresses the problems of water, food shortages, environmental degradation and poverty at source. A sus-

tainable and cost effective solution. This is recognised by those that are helped.

John Davies Population Matters

What a success we had with the 1

st

Southoe and Buckden Scouts Beer Festival - we raised over £2200 for our

camping expedition to France next year, and had lots of fun!

The Scout Group would like to thank everyone who helped to make the event possible:

Beer Barrel sponsors: Steve Pell, Trevor Crowe, Simon Leggate, Jon Medd, David Hitchin, John Draycott, Dave

Strong, Terry Jones, Anna Trignall, Martin Loakes, Salon on the Green, Nisa.

Music: Crystal Ship, Scouting for Beards, Matt Heiland, Mick Hursey and Roy Hart

Catering support: Days of Buckden, Pete Emeleus

Finally many thanks to those parents who came along, and helped in various different ways, over the two days.

Scouting provides exciting opportunities to many young people in the village, and your fundraising support helps

to make this possible.
