Huntingdon Dining Club

Huntingdon Dining Club is a friendly fundraising group which

raises vital funds for the national children’s charity the NSPCC

in Cambridgeshire through a programme of luxury luncheons,

fashion shows and talks.

Money raised by the club’s events and membership fee will

help NSPCC projects such as Speak Out Stay Safe.

stration on the Art of Floristry

Did you know…?

...In 1439, Buckden housewife, Alice Govy, was accused of

stealing two kerchiefs and three skeins of yarn, worth two

shillings, from John Falconer and John Attwood who were

both inhabitants of Buckden. At her trial the jury found her

guilty and she would probably have been put to death – had

it not been discovered she was pregnant. She petitioned

Henry VI for mercy, claiming her sufferings were undeserved

and due solely to “the envy and malice of enemies”. Her plea

was successful and on 15

December 1439 she received a

royal pardon.
