Buckden Junior Football Club
The new season at BJFC is now fully in swing,
with our teams now having completed the
first wave of fixtures.
This year we have been joined by 2 U7’s
teams, The Buzzards Black and The Buzzards
White as well as a second U8’s team – The
Caracaras White.
This now means we have 11 teams playing across different age
groups in the Hunts Youth League, on top of the 2 Dribblers
sessions we run each week and our Development Sessions –
we are extremely proud to be able to introduce so many young
players to Grassroots football and hope they all enjoy a suc-
cessful season.
Our Tea bar continues to run every Saturday from 9am. This
season we have re-located to the cricket pavilion which gives
the perfect viewpoint to enjoy watching the matches whilst
enjoying a bacon or sausage roll and some refreshments.
Our Dribblers sessions are now split into two - older dribblers
(school year 1) on a Saturday 9am – 10am and our younger
dribblers (age 3 and above) now on a Sunday at the same time.
Our Development Sessions run on a Sunday from 9am – 10am.
The aim of these sessions is to give children aged U7-U10
(school years 2-5) a chance to learn the skills they need to as-
sist them in the future with finding a team – please contact us
for more details.
For more information on the club, joining a team or the com-
mittee please contact our Chairman Michael Lander via

presently sitting second in the league after 4 games
We are a friendly club based at the recreation ground in Buck-
den and welcome you to watch a game and join us for refresh-
ments in the Village club during and after! There is a football
card available behind the bar on match days if you would like
to take part for 50 pence a team.
We welcome back our full time goalkeeper Liam Dawson with
open arms, after a preseason desire to play up top. We also
see the return of Mark Darlow after a long term back injury,
with James Woo involved again after a nasty knock on the an-
kle. The ever present Charlie Ling will be missed, as he is away
on family duties for a few weeks. Graeme Marks may assume
the role of lone striker as he makes a welcome return to the
squad after a late start to preseason fitness training held him
back in readiness to kick the season off. We push on in our
fight for a third successive promotion. We are Buckden (WAB)

16th November 2PM Kick Off – V Foxton Reserves
A Buckden garden this month
Hedgehogs!
Hedgehogs are a gardener's friend, as they eat snails, slugs and
insects. Hedgehogs usually hibernate between November and
mid March and animals must have enough fat reserves to sur-
vive hibernation. Making hedgehog homes in the garden and
providing food will help hedgehogs.
How to make a hedgehog a home
Leave areas of the garden 'wild', with piles of leaf litter and
logs. These are an attractive nest as well as a home for the in-
vertebrates (slugs, beetles) that hedgehogs like to eat. Making
an artificial home can be as simple as placing a piece of board
against a wall. You can also buy hedgehog homes online.
How to feed hedgehogs
Food and fresh water will en-
courage hedgehogs to return.
Leave out foods like tinned dog
or cat food (not fish-based) and
crushed dog or cat biscuits.
Specialist hedgehog food is also
recommended and can be
bought from wildlife food suppliers. Never feed hedgehogs
milk as it can cause diarrhoea; instead provide plain, fresh wa-
ter in a shallow bowl.
With bonfire night fast approaching, make sure to build bon-
fires as close to time of lighting as possible and check them
thoroughly before lighting.
