Buckden Roundabout

September 2018

Art4Africa Exhibition

returns to Keysoe

Local charity Rise Africa UK (

www.rise-africa.co.uk

) is holding

its second Art4Africa exhibition in September from Thurs 6

th

to Sun 9

th

, to raise money to help educate 80 children in Tan-

zania. The charity hopes to better the £15,000 it raised at the

previous event in 2016.

The Art4Africa exhibition will feature paintings, indoor and

garden sculptures, pottery and jewellery by more than 70 lo-

cal and nationally renowned artists, plus a dedicated gift area.

Over 30 artists from Cambridgeshire and 17 from Bedford-

shire will ensure that Art4Africa is not only a great way to help

transform disadvantaged children’s lives in Tanzania but also

provides a unique opportunity for local artists to show their

work. All pieces are for sale, with 100 per cent of the money

raised going to the charity.

On Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of September there will be a

Barbecue and Bar area. The organisers aim to offer all visitors

a great experience.

Olivia Faulkner founded Rise Africa UK in 2011 aged 21, after

spending three months working in Tanzania. “I’ve seen for

myself the difference a few pounds can make,” said Olivia.

“Buying a piece of art is an amazing feeling knowing that

you've enabled a child to have an education.”

The exhibition will be transforming Olivia’s parents’ home, an

th

Century Baptist Chapel and its gardens into a stunning

celebration of local and national artworks. The venue is The

Old Chapel House, Riseley Road, Keysoe, MK44 2HT.

Admission is free from 0900 to 1800 every day. There is also a

ticket only evening, Wednesday 5

th

September 1930, offering

a first view of the exhibition with drinks & canapes all with the

sound of a steel drum band.

Tickets are limited and are on sale via

Christopher Faulkner, Olivia’s father said “Art4Africa started

as an idea in 2016 to raise some money for Olivia’s charity

before we redecorated the house. It has become so much

more and to have been described as “one of the best and

most professional charity events” in 2016 was a real honour.

We had to do it again, even though the house has been redec-

orated!! We really work hard to promote new artists and one

of our most successful artists in 2016 had never sold a picture

before. Giving new local artists an opportunity is a key objec-

tive for Art4Africa.”
