Engage in the Afternoon – Roman Treasures Project
On Wednesday 19
th
September from 2pm – 3.30pm, historian Kate
Hadley introduces us to our Roman ancestors (Celtic and Iron Age
too) and gives us an insight into their lives by taking a close look at
the treasures they had in their pockets and on their dining and
dressing tables 2000 years ago. Kate has had access to private col-
lections and will be showing treasures seen for the first time.

Storytime
Storytime
for pre-school children starts again in September. Come
along and listen to some stories and sing some rhymes. Storytime
starts at 2.15pm and in September will be on Tuesday 4th, 11

, 18

and 25
th.
Knit Lit
Do you enjoy knitting and a good book? Our friendly group meets on
alternate Fridays. In September our Knit Lit meetings are on Friday

from 8pm. Knitters of all ages and abilities welcome!
New to the library
Fun Palace – Saturday 6

On Saturday 6

October, all libraries across Cambridgeshire will be
taking part in the Fun Palace weekend. This involves communities
coming together to hold activities in their local library, sharing skills
and interests. Last year activities at our libraries included science
experiments, origami, Lego and dj-ing. Buckden Library will be tak-
ing part this October. So if you’re passionate about something and
would like to share this with others, please get in touch with

Lego Club
Our new monthly Lego club starts on Saturday 29
th
September.
Come along and see what you can build. Suitable for children aged
5 – 11. 50p per child.
To help us get the club up and running we’d welcome any donations
of Lego, so if you have any Lego that is no longer played with, please
do pop it into the library.
We’re also looking for volunteers to help run the club. If you have a
couple of hours to spare one Saturday a month, please do ask let us
know at the library.

BUCKDEN PARISH COUNCIL
PARISH CLERK AND RESPONSIBLE FINANCIAL OFFICER
Buckden Parish Council is seeking an enthusiastic and customer
focussed individual to fill the post of Parish Clerk. The Clerk is
responsible for managing the day to day business of the Coun-
cil and is required to provide professional support and guid-
ance in all aspects of the Council’s work
Applicants will need an administrative and financial back-
ground, excellent communication skills, and a good knowledge
of office applications. Preferably they will have a working
knowledge of local government law and procedures or show
they have the potential and willingness to learn with training.
They will also have supervisory experience.
The successful applicant will be expected to have, or be pre-
pared to obtain within a reasonable period, a relevant local
council qualification.
This post is office based in Buckden Village Hall. The hours of
employment are 30 hours per week. There is some flexibility in
determining the specific hours of work. Attendance will be re-
quired at evening or other meetings for which time off in lieu
can be taken.
The full-time salary scale is £25,463 - £33,136 per annum (Local
Government Spinal Column 28 -37) This salary is then pro-rated
and has a bar to progression to SCP 35 dependent upon having
obtained a relevant local council qualification.
